A Study on Development of the Socialization of Care with Enforcement of Long-term Care Insurance System and "New Household Expenditure"

The purpose of this study is two-fold : first, to understand the three changes assumed in implementing the long-term care insurance system, i.e., changes in industrial structure and employment structure, changes in life style, and changes in expenditure structure in household economies _of those families with elderly who require care, through the processing and analysis of the related governmental statistics, and second, to contribute to creating an environment for well-being of the elderly through such understanding. The study confirmed that the number of nursing care facilities and employees grew faster after the long-term care insurance system was implemented and that possible causes for the higher growth rate are influences of participation of profit-making enterprises in the field of nursing care. The study also demonstrated that "new household expenditures" that were generated in connection with socialization of care can be determined through the Income and Expenditure Classification Table of the "Family Income and Expenditure Survey" as revised in January 2005. However, the statistics for determining "new household expenditures" in households with elderly who require care may not be fully compiled. A future task is to develop teaching aids in gerontology and social welfare for elderly by requesting compilers statistics to provide data that will enable us to determine the actual status of those living in households that use long-term care insurance services.8KJ00004722746論文Articledepartmental bulletin pape
